Mr. Hellekson has taught at Emerado Public School for 29 years and is known fondly by staff for his hollow leg. He has taught a variety of classes and most recently he has been teaching physical education along with reading and science.  He feels his strengths are student relationships, parent communication, and his sense of humor, loving to tease others when he gets “on a roll”. Mr. Hellekson has really enjoyed his reading curriculum and reading time with his group the last few years. He enjoys helping to plan events for the community and parents. Mr. Hellekson is extremely dedicated and puts in many hours here at the school.  He has introduced the students to new activities in phy ed such as Tchoukball which he acquired for the  school through a Donors Choose grant.

Mr. Hellekson is inspired by his wife Jane and his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He wishes he was able to spend more time with his brother, Roger, who passed away a few years ago. He loves to farm his family’s farm and spend time with his children and grandchildren. One of the things he is most proud of is getting his master’s degree. His bucket list includes another trip to China, acquiring a Harley Davidson motorcycle, attending the Norwegian Festival in Minot, and the Corn and Honey Festival in Manitoba. Some of his favorite things include: dark chocolate, veggie pizza, Corvettes, Mexican Village hot sauce, Elvis Presley, Audio Adrenaline, deer hunting, and the color green.

Mr. Hellekson is a valued member of the Emerado School team. His dedication to our school, perseverance, and deep faith are admirable. If you see him out and about, please thank him for his commitment to Emerado School.
